Abstract

Some iron(II) complexes with aromatic diimine, substituted aromatic diimine and of the type [Fe(bipy)3−n(CN)2n](2−2n)+ have been identified by different methods like Job’s continuous variation, mole ratio and slope ratio. The mixed ligand complexes of iron(II) and iron(III) such as [Fe bipy2(CN)2].3H2O and [Fe bipy2(CN)2]NO3 were crystallized out and characterized by elemental analysis, IR-spectroscopy and UV-Visible absorption spectrophotometry. Other characteristics of the complexes like; wavelength maximum, molar absorptivity, stability, stability constant, instability constant and standard free energy change for the reaction of complex formation, have also been spectrophotometrically established at room temperature.
