Abstract

Zinc substituted ferrites with general formula Mg(1-x) Znx Fe2O4 (where X=0.0,0.25,0.5,0.75,1.0) were prepared by ceramic technique. The thermo-electric power was measured by differential methods in the temperature range 30-200°C. It was observed that both n and p-type carriers were responsible for conduction in these materials. Sample for which X=0.0 shows p-type behavior and that with X=0.25 shows an n-type behavior throughout the temperature range mentioned above. The samples with X=0.5,0.75,1.0 show n- to p-type behavior. It was observed that all the samples are degenerate type semi-conductors.
